A movie that was filmed on the International Space Station is being held back from release by NASA. Richard Garriott, who spent 30 million of his own money to be a "Space Tourist" aboard the ISS while he was on board he filmed two movies; Man on a Mission, which is currently in theaters and an 8 minute film entitled Apogee Of Fear.
NASA is keeping Apogee Of Fear from release as they claim it was not filmed on board NASA Hardware, as Garriott explains to Space.com. The main actors of the film aside from Garriott himself, are NASA astronauts Mike Fincke and Greg Chamitoff, along with Russian cosmonaut Yuri Lonchakov.

Another theory behind their reasoning is because NASA found the film too playful. Until NASA gives permission, it cannot be released. Which in itself already makes it an awesome movie in the public's eyes. The Smithsonian has already requested a copy of the film, simply due to it's historical significance as it being the first Sci-fi movie actually filmed in space.
